Liberate.
Dr. Stevenson's initial observation of academic and organizational difficulty with recruitment and retention of diverse identities such as BIPOC, queer, disabled, linguistically diverse etc. was in 2017. The main issue was while yes, we were inviting people in, the system itself was not designed to support or retain the multiplicity of diverse identities and needs. Given these systemic and organizational dynamics, much of Dr. Stevenson's focus over the years has been applied equity and inclusion work. Meaning, what are the models and systems that we need to put in place to ensure that our strategic planning of inclusion and belonging succeed. Through this, Dr. Stevenson has developed an applied equity and inclusion approach to aid businesses and organizations move as a community into action to support their equity and inclusion work, initiatives, and programs.
